Given the current global situation, a lot of people have started working from home. For some, it is a blessing not having to deal with annoying coworkers and clients in real life. Meanwhile, for others, working at home can become too much because they are unable to concentrate.
There are too many distractions. And they are not going to vanish themselves. No, if you want to have a productive day working from home, you need to make some changes in your life.
Here are some ideas that will help you concentrate and not slack off while you are stuck at home but still need to finish the job.
Idea #1 – Take Regular Breaks
According to the WFH productivity tips by Oberlo, regular breaks should be a priority. And it is not just about a lunch break (which you should take as if you were working at a regular place).
There will be times when you are getting into the work too much since there are no disruptions from coworkers or random people coming in. However, do not forget that your health matters a lot as well.
Determine how much time you can dedicate to break throughout the day. And take them regularly. At the end of the day, there is nobody watching you, so you can enjoy some freedom. Of course, do not start slacking off as that will only create more problems later.
Idea #2 – Create a Morning Routine
Waking up as early, as usual, is not mandatory since you do not have to commute to work. But you should still not spend too much time in bed. Keep things organized so that you do not fall behind the work and are able to meet the deadline.
Give yourself a reason to wake up at a decent hour. Perhaps it could be getting in the habit of eating breakfast at home, which you would not be able to do when going to work? Or maybe going for a run early could be a great motivator? See what works for you and stick to it.

Whether it is the computer or a smartphone, you need to turn off notifications when working. They are too much of a distraction, and if you get in the habit of checking your devices for new messages or anything else too often, it will significantly decrease your creativity.

If you live with someone, set some ground rules. There should be time for work, and there should be time for anything else. This is especially true if another person is also working from home.
You do not want to get in someone else’s way, and you certainly do not want others to get in your way either.

Being locked up inside all the time is not good for your health. Nor is it good for your motivation. Do not get in the habit of becoming someone who leaves his or her home.
Even if you do not have to go buy groceries or run other errands, take some time in the day to spend outside. Get a breath of fresh air and some exercise on top of that. Working at home will not seem like such a terrible thing then.
Idea #6 – Create a Dedicated Workspace
Even if you do not have a separate room that you can turn into an office, you should still look to create a workspace. A small area will be perfectly fine so long as you know that it is meant for working and nothing else.
Having a dedicated workspace will make you more focused because you will know that being there means work. Not to mention the fact that it becomes easier to focus on the task at hand when you have a place that is just for working.
Idea #7 – Reward Yourself
A reward system is another trick that will keep you productive and motivated. Maybe you have a tasty snack? Or maybe you would like to watch an episode of a favorite TV show or play a new video game?
Treat those things as a reward for yourself after doing a good job. Knowing that there is something waiting for you at the end of the day will keep the spirits up and help to finish the work.
Idea #8 – Listen to Music
Creating a personal environment is one of the biggest advantages of working from home. You can listen to your own music instead of radio at work that plays the same songs over and over. Take advantage of the lack of restrictions. After all, listening to music is a great way to feel more relaxed or find extra motivation. It all comes down to what music you listen to.
